In N Out and Trauma Writing Group
This offering are group poems written by the In N Out and Trauma Writing Group in Spring 2026
This semester we wrote poems in the theme of the body—each week we wrote about a different body part.
These are the uniquely inspired poems for this Spring

Poem 8 – The Hands
The following poem is about the hands. We can do many things with our hands, create art, furniture, cars, houses, gardens, paintings and a great many other things. We can also lend a hand to someone, to help them with just about anything we can think of. Or we can push someone’s hand away, even if they are trying to help us. In the aftermath of rejection comes forgiveness and unity if we just reach out.
I held you in my hands, in a moment, in a dream, in life.
We connected by holding hands.
Joining hands and creating space for others.
Hands are building things together,
To create community and heal one another’s hearts.
Even though we may never completely understand everything.
What is this everything you speak of?
